Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten!

I was beyond excited to read "Let's get ready for kindergarten" with Kayla. If you don't already know my little Kayla started kindergarten this year and I could not be more proud. I really wasn't aware that children needed to know as much as they did going into kindergarten. After going over the book with Kayla I was pleasantly surprised at just how much she knew. Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten is a fun way to learn what your child needs to know and you can go through and see how much your child already knows. They go through the ABC's (upper and lower case), numbers all the way up to 100, opposites and the seasons. If your little one is getting ready to go into kindergarten or is already in kindergarten then this is the perfect book to sit down and read with them.

Would you like to win a copy of "Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten" and "Let's Get Ready For First Grade?"
To enter just leave me a comment telling me about your favorite kindergarten memory.
To gain an extra entry just add my button.
Contest ends October 30.
PLEASE LEAVE A VALID E-MAIL OR YOUR ENTRY WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

I don't remember anything about my kindergarten days, but when my eldest daughter went to kindergarten for the first day, I cried like a baby as soon as I got out the door!

Thanks

I guess one of my favorite Kindergarten memories was when I was with my class for art. We were getting ready to make kites, and the art teacher asked us if we knew of a situation where we *wouldn't* fly a kite. I immediately raised my hand and asked, "Like when Ben Franklin flew his kite in a storm?" The teacher was so surprised that I knew about it and asked how I did. I told her, matter-of-factly, it was because of a cartoon! That was pretty much how I knew about a lot of things in life. Thank you, cartoons! LoL.

Wow, kindergarten was so long ago! I don't remember a specific thing about class, but I will never forget Mrs. Luckfield my wonderful teacher. She made learning fun!

I remember my first day of Kindegarten (40 years ago). There were name tags on everyone's desks and I remember thinking my teacher was very smart to know all of our names!

My one memory of kindergarten is finding the letter S balloon person with another classmate. We would all take turns finding the letter people.

I have a picture of me on my first day of Kinder. I'm standing next to my bright red VW bus. I've taken pictures of my kids next to our car (big blue van and now a burgundy suburban).

We used to draw pictures and the teacher would write on the picture what we told her to say about it. So I drew a picture of my mom and it said "My mom likes to sleep a lot. She is nice, sometimes." My poor mom! She did keep it though and we still laugh at it!

My favorite memory was of the projects my teacher did with us for Thanksgiving. We sat on the rug with her singing "Ten Little Indians" in little pilgrim or Indian hats that we made, and roasting pumpkin seeds on a little burner. They were soooo good and it was a lot of fun.

My favorite memory from Kindergarden was being the "Star General". If you were chosen you wore a star on your head and the whole world knew you were super!

Physically go down to their level. Whether they are talking to you or you are talking to them, stoop down and make yourself their height. I can tell my kids really appreciate this, and no matter what we are talking about, they end up giving me a hug or kiss when I do this because we are physically so close.

I cried hysterically and another child was doing the same and the teacher suggested our mothers leave us to cry on each other's shoulders. It's not my favorite memory, but it's my most vivid.

My first day of kindergarten, the teacher gave us nametags to wear.

The SECOND day of kindergarten, I forgot my nametag at home. "The teacher's not going to know my name!" I completely lost it, at the suprise of my mother, since I never cried. She assured me that they would know who I was. I went in.

Later that day my Mom came to school with my nametag.

I sat next to a little girl on the bus. When we got to school i asked her if she would be my best friend, she said yes. Now almost 30 years later she is still my best friend. Our friendship started on the first day of kindergarten.
