Lands End

Lands End is synonymous with fashion and durability. You know that when you get a coat from them that it will keep you warm and look good doing it. The Lands End guarantee has always been an unconditional one. It reads: “If you’re not satisfied with any item, simply return it to us at any time for an exchange or refund of its purchase price.” We mean every word of it. Whatever. Whenever. Always. But to make sure this is perfectly clear, we’ve decided to simplify it further. Guaranteed. Period. So with winter fast approaching and temperatures going down, who couldn't use a new fleece pullover?
Here are two of my favorites:

Exclusive antistatic treatment resists static cling, static shock, lint and pet hair
Permanent antistatic finish never washes out
Famous ThermaCheck softness is still here
Lightweight ThermaCheck 100 Half-zip is ideal for layering and cool-weather exercising

and the Woman's Sherpa Fleece

Our thickest fleece
Feminine fit

Half-zip style looks great and helps regulate body temperature
TEMPERATURE RATING: 0°/10° Fahrenheit. Over layering pieces, this Sherpa Fleece Half-zip will keep you warm in 0° weather; over a light layer, in 10° weather.

Would you like to win one of these amazing pull overs?
The winner will get to pick which one they want to win and in what color.
Just leave me a comment telling me about your favorite winter memory.

Winter is not my favorite season, just a little too cold for me (and I live in California!), but my favorite memory is taking my daughter to the Christmas Tree Farm to pick out a tree when she was just a small child. The crisp cold air, the smell of the trees & hot cider -- it was great!

A huge snow storm we had that quieted the whole town. My husband and I went walking down the middle of the street late at night just watching the huge snowflakes fall. It was beautiful.

When I was growing up we had a huge backyard that sloped down perfect for sledding. We had every kid in the neighborhood over. We had a blizzard one year, the snow was so high we could jump off the back porch and land in a pile of snow three to four feet deep. The best part was coming in from the cold to get hot chocolate. I think that was my favorite part.

My favorite winter memory is the blizzard of 78. We lived on the 2nd floor of an apartment building and the snow drifts had gotten so high that the snow was just below our balcony. My Sister, Brother and I spent the afternoon jumping off the balcony into the snow piles. We were cold, soaked and having the best time of our life.

I remember one year when I was about 8 or 9 years old, we got the most snow we had seen in a long time. My dad plowed a huge pile in our yard. My brother and I spent about a week making the most elaborate snow fort you've ever seen! It had two rooms and even furniture! We could've been killed in a collapse but it really brought us together! Thanks for the great contest...it brought back a great memory!

We lived on a street that was on a slight incline; the boys on the street were a few years older than I was. They loved to race their sleds on the street - I was too young to join in the fun. Bless their hearts, they named me the snow queen and carved a throne for me out of the snow bank near the street. There I sat, queen of the day, watching the boys race for hours and feeling part of the fun.

We rarely get snow here in my little corner of Canada, but in 1996 we had a HUGE blizzard. No cars or buses could run, no businesses could open etc. But my three kids who were all small at the time had the time of their life! They were jumping off of the brick wall outside of our house into 4 feet of snow and the laughter and joy coming from them made us all so happy!

My husband who worked in an old age home, walked miles in to get to work as nobody was there to take care of the patients!

Anyway I was at street then for hours nearly freezing and fainting. Fortunately my mother managed to come and save me at the end. So, I was able to go home after 9 hours!!

1969, I had recently moved to Colorado and needed a job. I went to the Coors Company in Golden, and got hired. When I walked into the company it was a nice mild winter day before the snow started falling. All the moms in the apartment complex where we lived allowed us all outside (supervised of course) we built tons of snowmen and snowwomen, had snowball fights, sled rides down the hill, we all got back inside that evening, cold and wet, but so very happy. Me and my friends from childhood still remember that wonderful day!

It was 1994, I had been dating a really nice guy for a while but we had not said those '3 little words' yet to each other. All the signs were there but those are not words to be taken lightly. Anyway, we were out on a day date, we went to a local ski resort to sled and just have fun. When the sun was starting to set we decided it was time to eat so off we went. I come around the corner and there in a clearing was a blanket with a basket, wine, the whole nine yards. I was speechless that he would get his friends to set this up for me. While eating we talked and cuddled. He then told me to look down the mountain and there in the snow it said "I love you (and my name)"...those 3 little words...not yet spoken out loud. So what does he do? He left me on the blanket, climbed to the top of the hill and shouted it out for all to hear "I love you (my name)".

Yes, yes, that is my fondest winter memory by far.

I loved building snow forts with my sister and neighbors out of the big piles of snow at the end of the driveway from shoveling and the snow plow.

We went to NC, to Nana & Poppa's house for Christmas. The kids and I got there on Christmas Eve. My dad had bought a real tree before we got there, stuck it in the ground out back (they have a house on the side of a mountain, with a waterfall!) We went out in search for the perfect tree. It rarely snows there, but it started to snow as we went out (too perfect!)
The kids found the tree, my dad pretended to cut it down. It was so wonderful to be with them. I miss that time because a few years later, my dad who never drank or smoked, started coughing. The docs gave him 9-12 months to live, he suffered every day for 8 months. I miss him so much my heart hurts every single day.:(

Every winter, the first time it snowed in the evening, my dad would take my mom and I sledding down a hilly road near us before they plowed it.

I moved in with my husband (who was my fiance at the time) in November of 2004. It was the most romantic winter on record. Here we are in 2008 with a three-year-old, a two-year-old, and an eight-month-old, and we still feel the same way...sigh...

It was winter 2003 and the last my kids and I would have with my husband. It began to snow on our drive home from seeing holiday lights so I pulled over in a parking lot and we got out, twirled around, and caught snow flakes on our tongues...unforgettable.

My favorite winter memory is December 21, 1975. Outside it was cold and windy. Inside the house it was warm with wood burning heat and with excitement. My little brother was on his way. My parents had decided on a home birth and I was to experience it with them. However, the labor was taking too long for my five year old attention span. So our family friend, Phil and his son, Matthew and I went for a walk through the fields. I remember the cold air whipping through my hair and the sound of my father yelling for us to come quick. Josh was coming! What an amazing experience; to see my brother born on the first day of winter.

My father would take the day off whenever we had a snow day. He would help us build snowmen. When it was time to give the snowman accessories, Daddy would go inside to make us hot chocolate. My father passed away recently, and I will always have this memory to cherish.

My favorite winter memory were the days that my mother would drop a carload of my girlfriends and I off at Cobbs Hill Park which was very near where we lived. We would go up to the top of this huge hill where there was this lodge called the Tay House. My mom would leave us there for about 4 hours and we would sled down the huge hill next to Tay House all day long. We had these plastic sleds called mini-boggans and we could literally go down the hill lightening fast! On an average afternoon we must have sled down and walked back up that hill at least 50-60 times! We would then go into the Tay House lodge and have hot cocoa and cookies. Back in the late 80's when I was going there times were simpler, parents could leave their kids for an afternoon and we were free to be kids, carefree and happy go lucky. I miss those days and wish I could do the same things for my own 3 children now, but I would never, ever dare leave them alone at a park in this crazy world! Thank you for giving me the chance to remember this fond childhood memory! It was a lot of fun to share!

My favorite memory is my mom and I sledding on garbage can lids. We don't get snow here very often but that year we had almost 18 inches. My mom loves snow and will call me in the middle of the night to tell me she saw a snowflake!!!

We used to build igloos in the backyard and we'd make little refrigerators. Then we'd bring out some cookies in little ziploc bags and store them in our fridges out there and have them for snacks. We had so much fun!

One year it snowed in Pensacola, Florida! I made a snowman, all of six inches tall, and we put it in the deep freeze until it died of freezer burn. That's one of my favorite winter memories. Lands End makes some wonderful products. Whoever wins is going to be snuggly warm this winter!
