We drive a prius, use travel cups, recycle everything, and only have florescent lighting.
By recycling as much as possible.
I try to buy based on the amount of waste that I will NOT have to throw away.
I also think outside the box. Chop sticks can be used as finger replacement for sewing. It saves my fingers. I can also use it to push fabric under the foot as I lower the foot.
We've been making sure to conserve energy whenever possible. We changed all our bulbs to energy saving and we make sure to keep lights off and to keep our heat low. Thanks so much for this giveaway.

We don't buy bottled water anymore. Everyone in the family has their own reusable water bottles. We also recycle and put in a new Water Pik showerhead that has a pause feature for "navy showers".

We cook in big batches and freeze small portions so we don't buy as much junk or dirty up as many dishes
We've switched to using a pur flavor option water pitcher and ditched sodas!
We wash clothes in cold water and in the summer we open the windows ans use fresh air as much air in stead of the A/C as much as possible

I recycle everything. This year we tore down a trailer with double pane windows. We saved all of them and are replacing all our house windows. Our house was built in 1940. I think the windows were as old. We are insulating walls. Replaced the roof thats been leaking for 2 years. So far I have went thru a case of caulking. We're adding a bathroom and fitness room upstairs. All the bathroom fixtures is water efficient. I have cracked down on electric. Any thing with electronic lights are hooked to surge plugs we shut off. I open the curtains upstairs to the balony window for heat. I waste nothing, time, food, money. We are very smart shoppers. The list goes on and on. I'm the greenist you've ever seen.
Washing clothes in cold water, in summer leaving windows open at night and not needing to use air condtioning during the day, unplugging appliances when not in use.

I have been green for sometime now in most aspects of my life. The reason was to be more cost effective, and it just so happens that it ends up being green also. I reuse everything, I use florescent lighting because it saves me money, We don't use cell phones, we only use rechargeable batteries, I make my own tote bags for groceries and I make my own body oil, I save just about everything and reuse it some other way. It not only saves the enviroment, but you can save soooo much money.
There are so many things we are doing as a family to Go Green. Everything from using our KOR One water bottles in place of buying bottled water to using CFL lightbulbs throughout the house and really conserving our energy consumption. One thing I started doing recently is making my own household cleaning products. Here is a recipe I will share with everyone:
It is a Creamy Soft Scrubber. You simply pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into a bowl, and add enough liquid detergent to make a texture like frosting. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge, and wash the surface. This is the perfect recipe for cleaning the bathtub because it rinses easily and doesn't leave grit. Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin to the mixture and store in a sealed glass jar, to keep the product moist. Otherwise just make as much as you need at a time. I have been using this for the past 3 months or so and it works fabulously!

I re-cycle everything I possibly can. Also, I wash in cold water. I don't throw out clothes we don't use anymore, I take them to the 2nd hand store to donate.
I am on the Green Team where I work to make people aware at work of what they waste and what to do to lessen that waste.
We recycle, turn off lights when we leave the room, and try to use green products whenever possible.
We use public transportation or walk everywhere. I always carry cloth bags. We have changed all of our lightbulbs to the energy saving ones. We put up a screen door that seals tight. We bought a set of High Efficiency Washer and Dryer. We recycle everything possible. We use travel mugs whenever we go to get coffee. Instead of buying water we have installed a Britta Water Filter, which saves money and the environment.
Natural cleansers like vinegar and baking soda do a great job without harming the planet. I use reusable grocery bags, recycle and compost and try to conserve gas by driving much less.

I think one of the most important parts of being green is educating others in how to be green. The three Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), as cliche as they may have become, are still just as important as ever. Simple things such as turning off lights when you leave the room, buying energy efficient lightbulbs, and unplugging appliances when they aren't in use, really do make a difference. I am amazed at the momentum the green movement has gained and I am happy to see green go mainstream!
I recycle everything. My Grandmother used to reuse EVERYTHING. How did we go wrong? Well, at least the tide is turning and eveyone is trying to go green.
